THE CLINIC

Clinic policies

Everything you need to know about bookings, cancellations, payment and what to expect when visiting or working with me.

APPOINTMENTS

Making and confirming bookings

Appointments can be booked online through the Timely booking system, by phone on 027 829 2876, or by email at info@holistichealth.org.nz. Online booking is available at any time.

When you book, you will receive a confirmation by email or SMS. Please check this confirmation carefully, if your details are incorrect or you do not receive a confirmation, contact me before your appointment.

For your first naturopathy or massage appointment, please arrive at your booked time and allow an additional few minutes for a brief intake conversation. This helps me understand what you need from the session and ensures your full appointment time is well used.

I see clients of all ages, including children and people with complex health needs. If you have specific access requirements or questions about whether a particular service is suitable for you, please get in touch before booking.

CANCELLATIONS & LATE ARRIVALS

Cancellation policy

Please give a minimum of 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This allows me to offer the time to another client who may be waiting.

Late cancellations and missed appointments: Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice, and appointments not attended without notice, will incur a fee. This fee reflects the time reserved for your care and the impact on clients who could have used that slot.

If you are unwell on the day of your appointment, please contact me as early as possible. I understand that illness can arise suddenly and will always try to find a solution. See the "If you're unwell" section below.

Late arrivals

If you arrive late for your appointment, the session may need to be shortened to avoid affecting other clients. The full session fee applies regardless of the time available. If you know you are running late, please call or message ahead so I can plan accordingly.

FEES & PAYMENT

Payment

Payment is due on the day of your appointment. The following payment methods are accepted:

Cash

Credit / Debit card

Online bank transfer

If paying by online bank transfer, please arrange payment before or on the day of your appointment. Bank details are available on request. Invoices for services are provided by email upon request.

Non-payment: Appointments may be rescheduled or cancelled if payment is not received at the time of service.

Professional boundaries: All services offered at Holistic Health are non-sexual. I maintain a professional therapeutic relationship at all times.

Pricing is listed in full on each service page.

Note on supplements and herbal formulas: Where herbal formulas, nutritional supplements or other therapeutic products are recommended as part of a naturopathic treatment plan, these are an additional cost to the consultation fee. I will always discuss any such recommendations with you before proceeding, and you are not obligated to purchase anything.

INSURANCE

Health fund rebates

Some New Zealand health insurance providers offer rebates for naturopathic and massage services. Whether you can claim depends on your specific policy and insurer. I am a registered member of NMHNZ (Natural Medicine & Health of New Zealand) and NZAMH (New Zealand Association of Medical Herbalists), which may be relevant to your health fund requirements.

Please check directly with your health insurance provider before your appointment to confirm whether your treatment is eligible for a rebate and what documentation they require. I can provide a receipt with appropriate details to support any claim you wish to make.

ACC entitlements do not currently apply to naturopathic consultations or the majority of massage treatments. Please contact me if you have specific questions about this.

HEALTH & SAFETY

If you are unwell

If you are experiencing symptoms of illness, including fever, vomiting, diarrhoea, or a contagious respiratory condition, please do not attend the clinic. Please contact me as soon as possible to reschedule.

My clinic is a home-based space and many clients are in vulnerable health. Arriving when unwell puts other clients and me at risk. I will always try to find a suitable alternative time, and where possible, naturopathic consultations can be moved to an online appointment at short notice.

If you are unsure whether your symptoms mean you should attend, please call or message before coming in.

YOUR APPOINTMENT

Preparing for your appointment

There is no complicated preparation needed for most appointments. A few things that will help me make the most of your session:

  • Bring a list of any medications, supplements or herbal remedies you are currently taking

  • Bring any recent test results, blood work or medical letters that are relevant to the reason for your visit

  • Arrive at your booked time — not too far in advance, as I may be finishing another appointment

  • For massage appointments, wear or bring comfortable clothing; a change of clothes is welcome if you prefer

  • Avoid eating a large meal immediately before a massage appointment

  • Drink water before and after your appointment, particularly following massage or herbal treatments

If you have specific concerns, health conditions or questions about what to expect, please contact me ahead of your appointment. I am always happy to talk things through.

The clinic is located in a residential area in Trentham, Upper Hutt. Parking is available on the street. Specific directions and the clinic address will be confirmed with you when you book.

MINORS

Children and young people

I welcome clients of all ages and have experience working with children, teenagers and families. Naturopathic support can be particularly effective for young people dealing with digestive issues, skin conditions, hormonal concerns, immune health and more.

For clients under 16 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must be present for the appointment. They are also required to provide consent for treatment on behalf of the young person.

For clients aged 16 and 17, I will discuss the level of parental involvement that is appropriate on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the nature of the health concern and the young person's own wishes.

I take the safety and wellbeing of young clients very seriously and always work in a way that makes them feel comfortable and respected.

IMPORTANT

Scope of practice

I am a qualified and registered natural health practitioner. Holistic Health services are complementary to — not a substitute for — conventional medical care.

In an emergency, always call 111. The clinic is not equipped to handle medical emergencies. If you or someone else is in immediate danger or experiencing a medical emergency, please call the emergency services immediately.

If you have been diagnosed with a medical condition or are under the care of a GP, specialist or other health professional, please let me know. I am happy to work alongside your existing healthcare team and can, with your consent, communicate with other practitioners involved in your care.

Naturopathy, herbal medicine and massage do not claim to diagnose or cure disease. I work to support your body's own healing capacity and to help you understand and improve your health, using evidence-informed natural therapies in a safe and professional way.

If at any point I believe you would benefit from a referral to another health professional, I will discuss this with you openly and respectfully.

FEEDBACK

Concerns and complaints

I am committed to providing safe, respectful and professional care. If you have any concerns about your treatment or experience, I want to hear about them.

In the first instance, please contact me directly by phone or email. Most concerns can be resolved quickly and informally, and I take all feedback seriously.

If you are not satisfied with my response, or if you prefer to raise a concern through an independent body, you may contact the Health and Disability Commissioner (HDC) at hdc.org.nz or on 0800 11 22 33. The HDC deals with complaints about health and disability services in New Zealand and provides a free, independent service.

You may also contact my professional membership bodies, NMHNZ or NZAMH, if your concern relates to professional conduct or standards of practice.
